The Story of Gloss Systems

– How Experience, Vision, and Passion Shaped a New Industry Leader

Gloss Systems Oy is a relatively new name in the Finnish plastics industry, but the company stands firmly on decades of accumulated expertise and professionalism. Gloss Systems is part of the Gloss Group, formed when several key individuals from different industries met and decided to build a strong, future-focused partnership. The people behind the company—Teemu Keskinen, Tapani Smått, Robert Holm, and Richard Holm—each contribute essential knowledge, experience, and vision to the business.

The story began when the passionate plastics expert Tapani Smått, who had spent nearly his entire career working with plastics, sought a partner capable of delivering the extremely high cleaning quality he demanded. As a subcontractor performing maintenance and cleaning of dies, Smått accepted nothing less than a perfect mirror finish. After a long search, his path crossed with Polishine's Robert and Richard Holm.

Polishine, well-known for its skilled surface treatment of demanding components and metal polishing across various industries, gradually began performing more polishing work for the blown film sector. This sparked a new idea within the team—the realization that specializing in this niche could open the door to an entirely new market. Over the next few years, the concept was refined, strengthened, and shaped into a clear business plan.

At this point, the plan also convinced Teemu Keskinen, already a major player in the plastics industry through Keskinen Recycle. His involvement brought additional strength, resources, and industrial insight to the project. With all key players aligned, it was time to shift into a higher gear.

Although Gloss Systems Oy was officially established in 2024, its roots reach much further back. In fact, Tapani Smått dismantled, cleaned, and reassembled his first eight-layer blown film die as early as 1992—demonstrating the depth of experience that now defines the company.
